Delicious Pretzel Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1 ¼ cups warm water
- 1/3 cup baking soda
- Coarse salt for topping
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, brown sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water while stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into equal-sized pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape it into a pretzel.
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the baking soda. Boil each pretzel for approximately 30 seconds, then transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake the pretzels for about 12-14 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
