Mango chutney
Mango Chutney Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup distilled white vinegar
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Step 1: In a large saucepan, combine the sugar and vinegar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.
- Step 2: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, red chili flakes, and cinnamon stick to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
- Step 3: Add the diced mangoes to the saucepan and simmer over low heat for about 45 minutes, or until the chutney has thickened.
- Step 4: Remove the cinnamon stick from the chutney and season with salt to taste.
- Step 5: Let the mango chutney cool completely before transferring it to sterilized jars.
- Step 6: Store the mango chutney in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
