Fatteh Recipe
Introduction
Fatteh is a delicious Middle Eastern dish made with layers of toasted bread, creamy yoghurt, chickpeas, and a variety of toppings. It is a versatile and satisfying dish that can be served as a main course or as part of a mezze spread. This recipe is the perfect combination of flavors and textures, making it a fantastic addition to any meal.
Ingredients
- 4 pita breads, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 500g plain Greek yoghurt
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup of tahini
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- A handful of fresh parsley, finely chopped
- A handful of toasted pine nuts
- Ground paprika, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Spread the chopped pita bread on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, or until they become crispy and golden brown.
- In a bowl, combine Greek yoghurt, minced garlic, tahini, lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until creamy and well combined.
- Layer the toasted pita bread pieces on the bottom of a serving dish. Top with a generous amount of the prepared yoghurt mixture, spreading it evenly.
- Add the rinsed and drained chickpeas over the yoghurt layer.
- Sprinkle chopped parsley and toasted pine nuts over the chickpeas to add freshness and crunch.
- Finish off with a sprinkle of ground paprika for an extra burst of flavor and color.
- Serve the Fatteh immediately as a main course or as part of a mezze spread. Enjoy!
